Drs. Sweet and Duncan are currently seeking high caliber Master’s and PhD students interested in exercise and health psychology or health promotion.
 
Research-based Master’s

Completion of one empirical, student-led project. The thesis will be written in article format.

 

Admission requirements

- Minimum of 3.0 (out of 4.0) GPA in an undergraduate program in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Psychology or related field.

- Please note, that recent accepted students had a minimum of 3.5 (out of 4.0) GPA.

- 2 letters of recommendations

- Personal statement: 2 pages maximum

- Submit application through uApply

- Applicants are encouraged to contact either Dr. Sweet or Dr. Duncan prior to applying.

Mid-February, please visit the McGill KPE site for specific date

 

Program duration

Students are expected to finish within 2 years of their start date

 

Expectations

- Apply for internal and external funding opportunities

- Participate in weekly lab meetings

- Activity engage in TIE Lab activities

- Participate and present at scientific conferences

- Promote and maintain a respectful and collegiate atmosphere within the TIE Lab

PhD Adhoc Program: Exercise and Health Psychology - Research-based PhD

Completion of three to four empirical, student-led studies. The dissertation will be written in article format.

We have a variety of opportunities for undergraduate students to participate in TIE lab research projects. All of these opportunities are competitive and students are encouraged to contact us for more information well in advance. 
 
EDKP 453

Each semester the TIE lab has opportunities available for students in the EDKP 453: Research Practicum in Kinesiology course within the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education. Students earn course credit by getting involved with one of the projects being conducted in the lab. Students enrolled in these courses may be supervised by Dr. Sweet, Dr. Duncan, or co-supervised by both depending on their interests and the needs of the lab during that semester. Paid Research Opportunities

Occasionally there are paid positions available in the TIE lab. These positions generally involve financial support for students to assist, 5 – 10 hours per week, with various elements of the research process such as preparing recruitment materials, collecting and managing data, etc. Opportunities are generally advertised on our website and circulated within the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education.

 
Volunteer Opportunities

We frequently have volunteer positions available in the TIE lab. Occasionally, volunteer opportunities are advertised on our website; however, if you wish to get involved in the TIE lab on a volunteer basis you are encouraged to contact the lab directors.
